Retro Friday

The images for this week's retro Friday are from Terence Conran's "The House Book" published in 1974. I was inspired to use Conran images by a post I read on Cruststation about Conran and Habitat, and how he introduced the concept of lifestyle.
To quote from Crustation:
"He had created a revolutionary concept, offering to the ‘young moderns’ a democratic ideal of contemporary design at affordable prices. Shopping as entertainment, furniture and home accessories from all over the world, mixing the love of ones home with the joy of colour, food, art and all the good things in life - Habitat had invented the thing we now call Lifestyle"
I think you can see the lifestyle concept coming through in the way his book includes family and people in some of the decor vignettes.
PS Thanks to Absolutely Beautiful Things for reminding me of the word vignette...it's so fabulously useful :)

I'm also interested in home decoration and it's nice to discover your pictures. The picture I prefer is the third one. I wish I had such a place!

I so enjoy looking back and seeing trends and ideas repeated in a different way. I just posted a pic from the 70s too - tractor tires covered in elastic.
