Something for Paris

Sometimes the world of design gets a little ridiculous. Take this ring from 20ltd for example, it's not bad, nothing spectacular in my opinion. I might buy something like this for fun, to wear every once in a while if it didn't cost me too much. This particular ring however costs a whopping 9800 British pounds (hmmm, don't seem to have one of them pound symbols on my keyboard). Okay, it does have some yellow gold in there somewhere among all that enamel, and it is one of a limited edition of twenty. Also, we are assured it is designed by Solange Azagury-Partridge who's work is the preferred choice of Paris's most discerning stars....but, well, sheesh!!! Maybe I'm just a pleb having never heard of Solange whatsit-whatever, and maybe I just don't get the importance being one of only twenty people to own a lot of enamel with a bird and a bee on it. I'm happy to leave such things to the Paris Hilton's of the world :)

I feel sick to my stomache when people fork out way too much money for something where the amount does not reflect the quality but rather the hype. Imagine how different the world would be if people shunned excessive spending to the point that you felt like a total boob to pay 9800 "pounds for a ring!!
