Me and my journal

These are pages from my current visual journal which I'm doing in altered book form. Unfortunately my digital cam went on the fritz and I need to take it in for repairs, so I've used my old cam and the quality isn't so great. I'd forgotten just how much digital camera technology has improved. Anyhow, a main theme running through this journal has to do with trying to reconnect to my inner self and finding my spirituality. Just like a little kid, I've enjoyed playing around with that simple old kindergarten wax crayon and water based paint resist technique.

Isn't it so therapeutic to make things? Must do more of that!

These pages are absolutely beautiful - they are inspiring me to take a little more trouble with my 100 ideas journal. Question about the wax-and-paint technique - do you draw with wax crayon and then paint over it? Do you scrape the wax crayon away afterwards? Primary school is way too far behind me to remember. I also vaguely remember a wonderful thing we did with magazine pictures and rubbing turpentine(or something?) over it. But again cannot remember exactly how it worked!

Thank you all so much for your kind and encouraging words:)
Anairam - I draw or scribble or write with the crayons first and then paint over them - easy and simple....and fun!

These are so beautiful, I think it's great that artists take time out to journal (keep creativity alive doesn't it)?
